..... Romeo & Juliet. My take on the characters.

Hello :)

This is my entry to the Couples & Duos Contest ([link]) hosted by :iconcataclysm-x:.

I went with the most iconic love couple in the whole history of literature - Romeo and Juliet. Ofcourse, I didn't want it to be too mundane (since it's such a cliche topic and all).

Inspiration for this was a theatre brochure, advertising several plays. The guy and the girl came from two random ballet plays, neither related to each other.

I thought the two images together balanced each other out perfectly and represented the love between those two Shakespearean heros very well - dynamic yet subtle, beautiful yet powerful and all along full of excrutiating pain and sorrow. :D lol

I know the anatomy and portraiture is horrible - I had to edit it in Photoshop to have more realistic human beings. But what can I say? I am still learning.

Hopefully this is not a total embarrassment to myself as an artist.

By the way, the sketch was done in watercolours and then I went over it with pastels (boy, haven't used those in years). Took about 10 hours. Enjoy! :D

I think you did a good job with it. The two figures contrast yet compliment each other, and it all comes together really well. :)
